“Ella is new to the cheerleading program this year and we could not be more excited to have her on the team. Ella came to our first practice having already memorized every single cheer she needed to know!! She comes to practice prepared and eager to learn! Ella has jumped right in and shown how hard-working and dedicated she is, and we cannot wait to watch how she grows as a cheerleader this season! Way to go, Ella!” – Kelsie Webb, Head Coach Varsity Cheerleading

ACC Leadership Opportunity!
The office of Public Information ACC is partnering with the Leisure Services Department to recruit 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students for the 2023-2024 Mayor’s Youth Council. Here’s some information about the application process, eligibility, and time commitment:
- WHO: ACCGov is seeking applications by Monday, September 4 from current 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who are interested in taking part in the Mayor’s Youth Council. Eligible students can attend public or private schools or be homeschooled, but must be Athens-Clarke County residents. Applications, including references, should be submitted at www.accgov.com/youthcouncil.
- WHAT: The goal of the Mayor’s Youth Council is to encourage effective youth engagement in Athens-Clarke County and to provide an opportunity for youth voices to communicate directly with local government leadership. The Mayor’s Youth Council will encourage civic engagement and community service while also building a working understanding of how local government works.
- WHEN: Selected applicants will be interviewed in mid-September, with the first council meeting happening in early October. Council members will attend monthly meetings and give, at minimum, five hours/week to the council. Members will also work on small group projects throughout the year to suggest changes impacting youth today. Projects will be presented to the Mayor and other county leadership in May 2024.
