The Community Closet is TODAY in Myers from 8:00-3:20! Stop by ladies!
From Sloane Turner:
So excited to announce the community closet is set up and ready to go for today. I’m very excited with how it turned out, and hope everyone will come check it out during their free time today. Getting clothes second hand is a great way to reduce environmental impact, save money, and find unique pieces. Around 92 million tons of fashion waste is sent to the landfill each year, a number that only continues to rise. Though an event like this seems negligible to a number as big as 92 million, starting small is the best way to make an impact.
So excited to see y’all there

Thank you to everyone who submitted to the last round of the Literary Magazine. Your pieces were fantastic. Congratulations to the following pieces which were selected to receive recognition by the editorial board.
Winner: “Is Water Wet?” by Luke Bright
Best Poetry: “The World Burns and We Drink the Stream” by Emily Drennen
Prose Honorable Mention: “Falls Like Lightning” by Nicholas Chester and “The New Home of the Old Yew” by Alexandra Hutchinson
Poetry Honorable Mention: “Painter” by Remy Marty and “The Necklace” by Vida Jones
The next round of submission is now open. Submit your pieces here by November 28.
Holiday season is approaching! This is often a fun & exciting time where families and communities are brought closer together. In contrast, this is also the season of winter, where the days get colder and the nights get longer. Write a piece:
-
Exploring this contrast between the holidays and the winter season
-
Where a new tradition is created OR destroyed
-
About a character who really, really loves the holidays OR really, really hates them
Hello Students:
Friday November 7 was Marie Curie’s birthday, and the Science Department is sponsoring a celebration of her life and contributions to the fields of Physics and Chemistry. We will provide a special birthday snack during your advisory time today. Would you like to know more about this pioneering 2X Nobel Laureate? Here are a few resources to explore.

Due to the government shutdown, many households who rely on WIC and SNAP benefits are facing heartbreaking uncertainty about their next meal. Lake Country Rural Health Initiative is hosting a Food/Formula Drive to support local families affected by this crisis. If you all want to help out during the holiday season, you can donate canned foods, baby formula, baby bottles, and/or baby food. I can come by anytime from November 1-December 31 to pick up any donations y’all may have and bring them to the clinic. Thanks!!

A vendor who offers letter jackets will be on campus, in the Tillman Center, Wednesday, Nov. 12th during both lunch periods. He will have sample sizes to try on for those interested as well as ordering information. All orders are done online so a link will be provided.
Anyone interested who has earned a varsity letter in a school sport or activity (OAP, Literary, etc) is eligible to purchase a letter jacket.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Petroski!
