Walk to Pep Rally

Friday is a Spirit Dress Day. Please WALK (do not drive) to the Spartan Center at 2:30 – start heading over right then. Cheerleaders, Pep Band and 12th Man should be dismissed at 1:50 to prepare for the pep rally and do have permission to drive to the Spartan Center.  Everyone needs to go to the pep rally – it is mandatory and fun! Get spirited!


Girls Basketball will play this Wednesday and Thursday at 4:30 and 6:00.

National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Everyone who is interested should submit their creative work! Congratulations again to Charlotte Luke who received the Silver Key award in last year’s competition.

Honors Biology Most Important Organelle Campaign 2018 has begun!  Though cellular organelles are normally an organized group working together, certain organelles have gotten the notion that they are more important or perform a more important function than their other fellow organelles.  The campaign for Most Important Organelle continues!  Campaign posters are up in Ms. Neves’ room (SA105), and today the candidates will begin handing out their campaign informational pamphlets.  Be sure to grab them all so you can be educated voters!!  The faculty and the entire freshman class will have an opportunity to vote in the election via Google Ballot on November 13.  More information will come as the election season continues!!


Sophomore and junior poetry writers are eligible for the Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers. The prize includes publication in the Kenyon Review, one of the country’s most widely read literary magazines and full scholarship to the Kenyon Review Young Writer’s workshop. Submission is free and easy!

Honors Biology Most Important Organelle Campaign 2018 has begun!  Though cellular organelles are normally an organized group working together, certain organelles have gotten the notion that they are more important or perform a more important function than their other fellow organelles.  The campaign for Most Important Organelle continues!  Campaign posters are up in Ms. Neves’ room (SA105), and today the candidates will begin handing out their campaign informational pamphlets.  Be sure to grab them all so you can be educated voters!!  The faculty and the entire freshman class will have an opportunity to vote in the election via Google Ballot on November 13.  More information will come as the election season continues!!


Sophomore and junior poetry writers are eligible for the Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers. The prize includes publication in the Kenyon Review, one of the country’s most widely read literary magazines and full scholarship to the Kenyon Review Young Writer’s workshop. Submission is free and easy! 


Submit to the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards! Due Dec. 31

Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally. National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Everyone who is interested should submit their creative work! Congratulations again to Charlotte Luke who received the Silver Key award in last year’s competition.

You are invited to the Athens Youth Symphony’s performance at 4:00 on November 11 (This Sunday!) at Hodgeson Hall. We have a number of our students performing. Come support and enjoy!
