Spartan of the Week(Week of January 8):

Read Johnson (Week of January 8)

“Read has been such a leader this basketball cheer season! She was voted by the team as one of our captains and she has been taking her role very seriously. Read has been helping create dances, teach cheers, and also been helping our middle school basketball cheerleaders. You’ve likely heard Read on the sidelines at games because she is loud, excited, and leading her team through cheers! Read is such an amazing cheerleader and we can’t wait to see what fun ideas she has for the rest of the season. Way to go, Read!” Kelsie Webb, Head Coach Varsity Cheerleading

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American social activist and a leader in the movement to end racial segregation. He believed in taking action against violation of human civil rights, but the manner in which he accomplished his goals were radical because he participated and encouraged nonviolent protest. His actions impacted American culture so much that after his assassination in 1968 an effort was made to establish a holiday in his name. The first observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day occurred in 1986 and it is a day where, nationally, people can choose to participate in acts of service.

Next Monday, take advantage of the free day to serve, uplift, and empower your community members. Choosing to serve your neighbor and community doesn’t have to be an extravagant endeavor, but it should help to make a difference.

SpartanS of the Week 2023-24 3457455

“Edwin is a wonderful teammate! He approaches every lap in the pool with care and dedication. He is consistent, and he spends practice refining his strokes and conquering each practice with a determined mindset. What truly sets Edwin apart is not just his effort, but the positive attitude he brings to the pool!
Riley is a leader on Athens Academy’s swim team! Known for her relentless work ethic, Riley not only tackles every lap with determination but also uplifts her teammates with encouragement. Her cheers echo through the pool, supporting everyone on the team.
