Hilary Adams, Mary Brooke Barber, Eleanor Connolley, Ann Harper Covington, Jessica Ford, Moira Lockwood, and Anan Shen have shown great  TEAMWORK * PASSION * INTEGRITY *  and RESPECT  while participating in the Alliance Theatre’s Collision Project.  These students have been working since early January on writing/creating Athens Academy’s spring play, Mythology’s Daughters:  The Moment. 

Ms. Mellican, Dr. Barrow, Dr. Lovatt, Dr. K, Ms. Robinson, Ms. Towery, Mr. Dale, and Sarah Collins showed kindness and support by attending the official reading of Mythology’s Daughters: The Moment on Tuesday evening, February 18 at the home of Ms. Thompson.  Their comments and constructive criticism were helpful and greatly appreciated.
Anan Shen showed kindness by helping Ms. T prepare her home for the reading of the play.  Anan has also been assisting Ms. T with costumes for the upcoming spring play.

Auditions for the spring play, Mythology’s Daughters: The Moment, will be held from 4:15pm-6:15pm Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28.  An audition workshop will be held in Mr. Dale’s classroom on Wednesday, Feb. 26 4:15-6pm.
     This play was written by Hilary Adams, Mary Brooke Barber, Eleanor Connolley, Ann Harper Covington, Jessica Ford, Moira Lockwood, and Anan Shen in cooperation with the Alliance Theatre’s Collision Project.  Additional contributors were Lexi Sennowitz and Katherine Woody.
     Roles to be cast: Persephone, Hades, Demeter, Artemis, Orion, Hermes, Eurydice, Orpheus, 3 Fates, 3 Graces, 3 Furies, Charon, and several nymphs.  Those with dance experience encouraged to audition.  Scripts are available for check out.  Please come dressed ready to move. All students being inducted into the National Honor Society next week need to attend a brief meeting on Friday morning during the break.  We will meet in Bertlesmann and if everyone hurries and we start on time it should only take a few minutes.  Please see Mrs. Street with questions or if you can’t make it.

All students being inducted into the National Honor Society next week need to attend a brief meeting on Friday morning during the break.  We will meet in Bertlesmann and if everyone hurries and we start on time it should only take a few minutes.  Please see Mrs. Street with questions or if you can’t make it.


Attention: Juniors registered for the on-campus ACT (February 25) and/or SAT (March 4). Take advantage of the following Wednesday morning test prep sessions (8:30-9:30 a.m.) in the Bertelsmann PH.  Bring a pencil or pen and a calculator (math only); practice test materials will be provided.

On Monday 2/10 at 10:30am (during club time) there will be a brief meeting for all NHS LS Science Night volunteers in Mrs. Kline’s classroom in the LS.  If you do not know where this is you can meet Ms. Neves in the Williams Connector at 10:25am to walk over together.

Starting today all current active NHS members will begin receiving an email with a google form to sign up to volunteer at LS Science Night on Thursday February 20.  Please select your top 5 locations to volunteer, and the locations will be filled up on a first come first served basis.  I will send the invitation to sign up to Senior NHS members today (Wednesday 1/29) and Junior NHS members tomorrow (Thursday 1/30).  If you have any questions please contact Ms. Neves.  I look forward to seeing all our NHS members come out to participate in our annual service project!!

Spartan 5K and Sprint: This Saturday, Feb. 8!

7:45am – Registration and Pre-Race Activities
9:00am – 5K begins 
10:00am – One-Mile Sprint begins 

Athens Peer Court is currently accepting consent forms for new volunteers who would like to join the program.  The training begins on Thursday, February 6th and continues on Saturday, February 8th. We conclude on February 10th. The training is cumulative and attendance at all three sessions is mandatory to join the program. The commitment following training is one Tuesday per month for the upcoming semester. Hearings occur from 5:15-7:30 and are held in downtown Athens.

This program is open to all 8th-12th Clarke County residents and participation is free.

If you know a student who would like to join, please fill out the attached January 2020 APC Consent Form and email Emily Bones at boness@fanning.uga.edu.
