“Thomas has been a pleasure to coach for all four years of his varsity baseball career. His passion for the game of baseball is quite evident in the way he works and competes. Thomas had a great week leading the Spartans to two victories over Commerce. His stellar pitching, outstanding defense, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get on base were all keys to the Spartans success. Thomas’ huge impact on and off the field has been so greatly appreciated and will be hugely missed next year. Thank you for all that you have done for Spartan Baseball!”

Congratulations to sophomore Matthew McRae &
senior Adelaide Ellisfor being named
Spartans of the Week(Week of March 24):

“Matthew is stepping up big time! He is new to the throwing events, but he has shined in these first few meets with steady and linear improvement. Our men‘ throwers are the best group we have ever had in a storied throws program here at Athens Academy and Mr. McRae is doing his part to maintain our program’s trajectory. Congratulations to Matthew and all of our throwers!”
– Neville Anderson, Head Coach Varsity Boys Track & Field

“Adalaide has really shined during her senior season. Despite the rigors of playing two sports this spring, she has been steadfast in her track training and has emerged as a fierce competitor. As a result of her hard work and achievements on the track, she will continue her academics and athletics (cross country/track & field) at Washington and Lee University this fall.
I admire her loyalty to both her track and tennis teammates as she decided  to not choose between two loves. Her split devotion has been successful because she has committed to working hard in both endeavors. Salute, Adelaide!”

In this year’s literary magazine we hope to include a page covered in six word sentences that tell an entire story. This style of storytelling was popularized by the modernist author Ernest Hemingway, with his most famous example being the poignant: “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” We challenge you to take a couple minutes out of your day to see what you can come up with!
-Thank you Mr. Scharfenberg for sharing this concept with the literary magazine team!

**Lit mag wants to make a note that we register the emails for the 6 word challenge so we can see if you put a different name**

Due April 1st but the sooner the better to get them in!

To sign up to host a German student, sign up HERE!
