ATTENTION: GRAB YOUR STUFF!

Please grab all of your belongings as you head home for the holidays! All jackets, books, bags, lunch boxes etc. left laying around or on hooks will be donated this Friday! Thank you!

Attention Sophomores: HOBY’s flagship program, the State Leadership Seminar (LS) is designed to help high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. This is a overnight program that takes place in June 2019 on the campus of Georgia College, Milledgeville.

Athens Academy will pay for 1 representative to attend this year and you can apply by answering the question below and sending your response to Mr. Olson by January 15th.

Essay Question: In your own words define leadership, identify your personal leadership strengths, and explain why you should be selected for this program.

ATTENTION: JUNIORS
Athens Academy is pleased to offer on-campus, school-day SAT testing for current juniors on March 6, 2019.  The college guidance team encourages all students to take the SAT at least once (preferably in the spring of their junior year), and this is an opportunity to do so in a familiar environment.  Last year was the first time that Athens Academy students took the SAT on campus during a school day, and feedback was very positive.
WHAT: SAT with Essay (3 hours, 50 minutes, plus breaks)
WHO: current Athens Academy juniors
WHEN: Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  This date has been designated as an Upper School conference day, so students taking the test will not miss any classes.  They will simply need to schedule their conferences in the afternoon when the test is over.  Students who choose not to take the SAT at Athens Academy will only be on campus that day for conferences.
WHERE: depending on the number of students who sign up, we will dedicate a building or an area of a building for optimal testing conditions (quiet, no distractions, ample space, etc.).
COST: $80 (payable via link below).  Registration includes two test prep sessions to be scheduled prior to the test date.
REGISTRATION: students must sign up for the test no later than Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  The deadline to request accommodations (if they are not already approved) is Friday, January 11, 2019.   We cannot accept any late registrations.
UGA VETCamp applications now open!

VetCAMP (Veterinary Career Aptitude and Mentoring Program) will house up to 52 high school students on UGA’s campus for seven days. At VetCAMP, students will be involved in various activities aimed at evaluating their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, providing mentorship and helping them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path. Click here to view a video that was produced from VetCAMP 2018.

The seven-day-long on-site summer program will provide opportunities for observation of and participation in various services in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center and the Diagnostic Laboratories, as well as a field trip to the Georgia Aquarium for a behind-the-scenes view of the facilities.

Other activities include information sessions on admission requirements, research opportunities, the curriculum, study abroad opportunities, and other undeserved specializations in the field of veterinary medicine.

Applications are open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students and can be accessed by clicking HERE.
