The Honors Biology Most Important Organelle Election is over, and the ballots have been counted.  Thank you to everyone who voted! Our school wide winner for 2018 is….The Mitochondria!!!
Congratulations to all our candidates, everyone showed TEAMWORK and PASSION and did an amazing job!  Winners for each section (Period 2 and Period 7) will be announced in class.  Great work everyone!!!

The Spartan Book Club will meet on November 26th in T-103 during club time.  Our book this month is The Perks of being a Wallflower written by Stephen Chbosky.  Please see Mrs. Street with any questions!


Thursday the Girls Basketball Team is hosting Savannah Christian beginning at 7:00pm. This game is taking place in the OLD GYM!! We are taking it back to the 80’s.


We have a parade on Friday, Nov. 16! The schedule below is for the pep band, cheerleaders and football players who will parade through campus. Upper school students will gather from 8:33-8:38.

7:40-8:10 open car doors
8:10-8:15 prepare for parade in PS lobby (go to PS)
8:15-8:20 walk through PS (K5-K4-K3)
8:20-8:25 walk through LS
8:25-8:33 walk by outdoor classroom & to the MS (through 6th grade building; walkway towards and through Schacht (7th grade outside of Daughtry/5th grade outside of Schacht)
8:33-8:38 walk through trustees, connector, down walkway and towards the walking bridge towards Chambers – parade ends at Chambers (S&A students should gather at Chambers)
8:40 return to class

Submit to the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards! Due Dec. 31

Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally. National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Everyone who is interested should submit their creative work! Congratulations again to Charlotte Luke who received the Silver Key award in last year’s competition.

Sophomore and junior poetry writers are eligible for the Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize for Young Writers. The prize includes publication in the Kenyon Review, one of the country’s most widely read literary magazines and full scholarship to the Kenyon Review Young Writer’s workshop. Submission is free and easy!

Congratulations to the company of Arlecchino & The City of Love for placing 2nd at the State level of the GHSA One Act Play Competition held Saturday, Nov. 3 in Warner Robbins, GA.  Jessica Ford & Sara Mack Lowe received “All Star Cast” honors and Daniel Rouhani was selected “Best Actor”.


 

Day of Service

We are excited to offer over 15 different service projects this year including the Fashion show and Special Olympics. Service Day leaders will have a mandatory meeting in the your specified meeting locations 10:25am. A permission form MUST be turned in if using your own transportation or departing campus early.

Don’t forget to also complete a transcript request (available here). Even though both forms are necessary, it is the  blue sheets that drive the process — and should therefore be submitted ASAP.

2018-2019 NHS scholarship application


The Spartan Book Club is reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.  We will meet during club time on November 12th to discuss.


Submit to the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards! Due Dec. 31

Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally. National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Everyone who is interested should submit their creative work! Congratulations again to Charlotte Luke who received the Silver Key award in last year’s competition.
