The CARE Club is hosting PJammin’ next WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28th. PJammin’ is an ALL-School Service event to benefit children battling long-term illness at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We want EVERYONE to dress down in their PJ’s to honor those battling long-term illness at CHOA.
Also, we NEED VOLUNTEERS to help with the lower school service project and also to lead their advisory in upper school service.
NHS Science Night Volunteers
Lower School Family Science Night is THIS THURSDAY February 22th!! NHS members should arrive at the LS Barrett Hall at 5:15pm. Check in with Ms. Neves at the door to find out which station you are working, and then you will get your pizza dinner. After 15-20 minutes of pizza and fellowship, there will be a short orientation to prepare you for the night and get you familiar with your station.
Volunteers should NOT park in the LS parking lot, but rather in the normal US lots. We need to keep the PS/LS spaces available for the families attending Science Night.
Remember, this is MANDATORY for all NHS members (unless Ms. Neves is already aware of your approved conflict). Even those who did not complete the station preference form are expected to attend, and you will be placed at stations according to need rather than your preference.
ATHENS PEER COURT

OCONEE RIVER CONSERVATION DISTRICT NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES FOR POSTER CONTEST
Winder, GA, February 15, 2024—The Oconee River Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), a local agency dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of the area’s natural resources, is now accepting entries for their Poster Contest for students located within the District’s service area. The service area includes Jackson, Barrow, Clarke, and Oconee Counties. Education is a critical element of the conservation effort at the local, state and national levels. Educating young people about the benefits of conservation helps to ensure the next generation will be wise stewards of America’s natural resources.
The annual Poster Contest provides public, private and homeschooled students in Kindergarten thru 5th grades the chance to have their art selected to advance on to the state contest. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winners in each category: K-1, 2-3, 4-5. Each year, the poster topic reflects National Association of Conservation Districts’s annual Stewardship theme and highlights the work of Conservation Districts to protect and enhance natural resources. This year’s theme “May the Forest Be with You, Always” focuses on the importance of our forests. The deadline to enter the contest is April 01, 2024.
The Oconee River Soil and Water Conservation District is a unit of state government that directs natural resource management programs in Jackson, Barrow, Clarke, and Oconee Counties. The Conservation District works with farmers, landowners, and with other units of government to educate and actively promote programs and practices that support the conservation, and use and development of soil, water, and related resources.
