Diaper Drive Next Week!

We are excited to announce our support again this year of the Athens Area Diaper Bank and their efforts to spread Diaper Need Awareness.  Middle School is leading the cause but we want to help too! The Diaper Drive is all next week, Oct. 2-6

Diapers are not covered by government assistance programs such as WIC or food stamps, yet diapers cost over $1000 per year.  In the U.S., about 1 of every 3 families struggles with diaper need.  In the Athens area alone, over 8,000 children are in need of diapers.  The Athens Area Diaper Bank is a tremendous resource to area families needing help to keep their children clean, dry, and healthy.

If you or your family is interested in supporting our efforts, please consider donating diapers of any size (open boxes or packs are accepted) any time next week.  Last year the Athens Academy community donated 23,000 diapers.  Our goal is to meet or beat that number this year!

Let’s help every child in our community stay clean, dry, and healthy!

Upper School Students may drop them off at the Deans’ Office!

Thank you for your help!

Trunk or Treat at the Y: Thursday, Oct. 19. Cars need to be ready at 4:45. There is a Cross Country meet at 4:15 and the One Act Play later that night but last year was really fun. If your club would like to volunteer, please email Mrs. Farmer by TODAY at 4:00!

Congratulations to junior Kate Drew on being named Spartan of the Week! (Week of September 18):
Kate Drew - SOTW
Kate is new to our school and program this year and we are so happy she chose to cheer! She always has a smile on her face and such a kind spirit! Kate has worked incredibly hard to learn all of our cheers, chants, and dances while also learning all of our school traditions. She is a strong base and has taken everything we’ve thrown at her with such grace and an eagerness to learn. We are so lucky to have Kate join our program. Great job, Kate!– Kelsie Webb, Head Coach Varsity Cheerleading
