Congratulations to the girls team for advancing to the State Playoffs for the 2nd time in program history (3 years). The team was defeated by Long Co Thursday by a score of 0-20 to end the season.

The Peer Support Project (PSP) gathered at Ms. T’s home on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 to stuff 15 holiday stockings bound for the Boys & Girls Club of Flint, Michigan. Stats show that 68 % of those under the age of 18 in Flint live in poverty.  They are a city of great need.  Participating PSP members were Hadley Spurlock, Annie Luke, Eva Saraf, Sophia Coppins, Julia Drake, Ben Daniels, and Oswaldo Jara Rivera.  Group teacher sponsor is Lorraine Thompson.

The Drama Club held its Annual Holiday Service Party at the home of club sponsor, Lorraine Thompson on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.  In addition to food, hot cider, and making gingerbread houses, Drama Club members also make 75 holiday cards for residents of a local nursing home.  Those in attendance were Andrew Caldwell, Sofia Dean, Annie Luke, Graham Williams, Alex Tally, Parker Minter, Alex Hutchinson, Isla Jane Eady, Ben Pabis, Charlie Sanderlin, Hadley Spurlock, Christina Chronos, Mariah Henderson, Ella Deedy, Abby Pylant, Elizabeth Paschal, Renee Cargill, Julia Drake, Emilee Stortz, and Mikaella Murph.

The Drama Club did its annual Holiday Service Shopping the morning of Saturday, December 7, 2024.  HT Garrard, Hadley Spurlock, and Ms. T, shopped for the Athens Area Homeless Shelter and for two clients of the Sparrow’s Nest.

Acting Showcase, “Snapshots”, will be performed on Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 7:30pm in the Presentation Hall.  Admission is free and all are welcome.  Current Intro to Acting, Acting, and Advanced Acting students will be performing the scenes and monologues they have been working on this semester.  Student performers include Dyllan Adams, Julia Adang, Adair Lang, Liam Biehl, Ben Papis, Isla Jane Eady, Ella Deedy, Carson Gober, Sally Jernigan, Elizabeth Paschal, Parker Minter, Abigail Pylant, Iris Williams, Jaylon Clark, Mariah Henderson, Claire Holt, Hadley Spurlock, and Charlie Sanderlin.

The ACAD Peer Support Project opened “World Kindness Week” with a giant “BE KIND” message, a “Be Kind” balcony banner, and a “Kindness BANDS us Together” station giving away “BE KIND” wrist bands to members of the Upper School Student Body.


The Seniors hosted Special Olympics last Wednesday!


ACAD GSA Club, (an LGBTQ+ group) hosted a Skittles table during World Kindness Week to promote “How to be an Ally”.

The Holiday Market will be open all day tomorrow in the Spartan Center. You may walk (do not drive) over during a free period or lunch. If you decide to go over, make sure you are on time for your next class – if you are late, you are not excused. Freshmen, you need to go to study hall. 
 
There will also be a donut/hot chocolate/iced coffee food truck outside the Spartan Center if you would like a treat during the day!

The French Club made a cheese platter for Tillman Center staff for World Kindness Week!

The ACAD Peer Support Project opened “World Kindness Week” with a giant “BE KIND” message, a “Be Kind” balcony banner, and a “Kindness BANDS us Together” station giving away “BE KIND” wrist bands to members of the Upper School Student Body.


The Seniors hosted Special Olympics last Wednesday!


ACAD GSA Club, (an LGBTQ+ group) hosted a Skittles table during World Kindness Week to promote “How to be an Ally”.

  • Academic classes will be held whether or not an exam is given, and students are expected to attend all of their academic classes; students should know whether or not to expect an exam in the fall and the spring or if their classes will have alternative assessments instead.
  • Students are expected to stay for the entire testing time (block) and may not leave if they finish early.
  • Mrs. Zalac must approve pre-arranged absences.
  • When students have free blocks, (non-academic) electives, or study halls, they needn’t attend school although students may be on campus; we will have supervision for students who need to be on campus for the entire day (bus riders or others who need to stay).
  • Students who receive extended time should be proactive about their exams and be sure that they have time for lunch if they have two exams in one day.
  • As always, the honor code will be followed and enforced.

** Tillman Center will be open for all US students from 11:55-12:25 only.
