A giant shout out to the 10 following students: Jessica Ford, Sara Mack Lowe, Wade Slatcher, Courtney Coffeen, Elizabeth Raeber, Lizzie Walker, Alexis Keeney, Evan George, Lexi Sennowitz, and Anan Shen.  These Spartans showed teamwork and passion by spending part of their Monday Holiday cleaning the backstage area and working on the set for the spring production. They were a tremendous help to Ms. T!

Spring Semester Schedule

This week’s schedule

Wednesday, April 7 – Wednesday Schedule (No school for seniors – Six Flags)

Thursday, April 8 –  Thursday Schedule (World Language Society Induction at 10:40, but no altered schedule – inductees miss last part of pd. 4 and the first part of pd. 7)

Friday, April 9 – Friday Schedule

This year’s Mock Trial competition was quite different than in previous years due to COVID restrictions, with only 99 schools–a fraction of the usual number—even competing. The competition was held completely virtually, with no district or region boundaries; instead, teams from around the state played in a tournament style, advancing through the rounds by winning their cases. Athens Academy’s team lasted through the first six rounds, making it to the top 64 but not advancing to the round of 32.  The team picked up eight awards:
  • Senior Katherine Woody won Outstanding Attorney in three different rounds.
  • Junior Sara Mack Lowe won one Outstanding Attorney award.
  • Sophomore Collin Edge and senior Jessica Ford each won two awards for Outstanding Witness.
In addition, four seniors were recognized for competing in Mock Trial all four years: Sarah Collins, Daniel Fern, Jessica Ford, and Katherine Woody. Way to go, Spartans!

Ally continues to improve each tournament and recently finished with an 81 at Atlanta Country Club. She has her career low scoring average on the season and recently finished in second place at the Vicki GoetzeAckerman Invitational and placed in the top 10 at Lane Creek with an 81. Great job Ally!!” – Brian Olson, Head Coach, Varsity Golf

James is off to a strong start this season. He is our leading senior in scoring average and had a great finish at UGA with an 82. We look forward to strong second half of the season from James and appreciate his work on the course.” – Brian Olson, Head Coach, Varsity Golf

Thank you so much for being diligent about wearing your masks! A few of you are still having trouble and for clarification, here is the process for you:

1. A faculty member will give you a warning.
2. After the warning, that faculty member will infract you and you will serve detention. This will be communicated to your parents as well.
3. After you serve detention, if another infraction occurs, you, your advisor, and your parents will meet with Mrs. Zalac and there will be escalated consequences.
