Maggie’s Moment

The Empire State Building has its own zip code.

Core Values

KINDNESS * TEAMWORK * PASSION * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * RESPECT

Congratulations to Maggie Edwards for being selected as Rotary Student of the Month! Here are the qualifications! She selected Mrs. Newland as her Rotary teacher to be recognized. Congratulations, Mrs. Newland!

The selection of a senior student should be based upon the following three  qualifications/criteria:

1. Academic achievement (Accomplishments)

2. Leadership (Character)

3. Service to school and community (Growth)

The motto of Rotary is “Service above Self”, therefore service to school and community should be the most significant of the three criteria.

2021 AP Exam Calendar for Athens Academy

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT SMOOSH THE BERRIES FROM THE PLANTS OUTSIDE OF THE SCIENCE CLASSROOMS. THE BERRY JUICE STAINS THE PAVEMENT! ALSO, (EVEN THOUGH THIS SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING), DO NOT EAT THEM – FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH!

Cristina (aka Teeny) has had a great season on the tennis courts this year. She plays with fierce determination. Her strong work ethic and competitive nature have helped her already solid game improve immensely. Every day she hits harder and becomes a smarter and more intuitive player. It has been wonderful to watch her game progress and it will be so exciting to see what this young player will do on the courts in the future. Congratulations Cristina!! – Jami Cashin, Head Coach, Varsity Tennis

Robert is having a stellar tennis season in his junior year at Athens Academy. He is an extremely strong singles player, but when I asked him to play doubles this season, he agreed without hesitation because he is a team player, and he always wants to do what is best for the team and what will help us win. He is a dominating force at the doubles spot. He and his partner, Landrum Brown, have an impressive, undefeated 10-0 record so far this season. Robert is one of the most athletic players I have ever coached. He excels in all parts of his game, but his net play is what truly sets him apart and makes his matches so fun and exciting to watch. On top of all that, he is a hard worker, leading by example on and off the court. Congratulations Bert!! – Jami Cashin, Head Coach, Varsity Tennis

Thank you so much for being diligent about wearing your masks! A few of you are still having trouble and for clarification, here is the process for you:

1. A faculty member will give you a warning.
2. After the warning, that faculty member will infract you and you will serve detention. This will be communicated to your parents as well.
3. After you serve detention, if another infraction occurs, you, your advisor, and your parents will meet with Mrs. Zalac and there will be escalated consequences.
