Congratulations to juniors Jackson Scruggs & Sarah Harrison for being named Spartans of the Week (Week of August 30)“Although they are both Juniors, Jackson Scruggs and Sarah Harrison are the front runners on our 2021 Cross Country teams.  Both Jackson and Sarah lead by example.  They have logged their miles over the summer and bring effort and enthusiasm to every practice.  Their hard work this summer has paid off as each has brought home an individual title early this season.  Congratulations to Sarah who won the East Jackson State Races in dominating fashion.  Jackson won the North Georgia Championship Varsity Race by 9 seconds.  It’s early and both of these runners are poised for strong seasons!” – Geoffrey Walton, Head Coach, Varsity Cross Country

SAT at ACAD for Seniors:
Athens Academy has made arrangements to offer the SAT (without essay) to Athens Academy seniors on Wednesday, October 13. This is the same day when sophomores and juniors take the PSAT, so you will not have to miss school to take this test.  Students have reported in recent years that the convenience and familiarity of testing at school have benefited them.  We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to improve your scores as college application deadlines approach.

Late Start

Each Wednesday, you (all grades!) get to sleep in a little! Your first class starts at 8:45 instead of 8:10. You must be in your class and ready to go at 8:45. If you are late, you need to sign in with the QR Code.

You are more than welcome to be here earlier! If you do arrive before 8:45, just sign in with a QR Code in a common space, Deans’ office or at the front desk. You may hang out in any common space or the library.

Tillman Center Announcement:

Upper School Students are not allowed in the Tillman Center when Middle School Students are using it. Middle School finishes lunch at 11:55. Most of the time there are many Upper School Students either going in or lined up right at the door, waiting to get in before 11:55. PLEASE do not be on the ramp going down to the Tillman Center. Wait in Lampkin Plaza, go wash your hands and grab your lunch. Let’s give the Middle School Students room to leave! Thank you for your help with this!

Please wear your mask when you go into the Tillman Center and while you wait in line. You may take it off when you get to your seat to eat.

Tillman Center Snacks are now available everyday from 9:30-11:30.

The Tillman Center Staff has been so kind to extend the time for you to go in and get a snack. You may go in and sit at a table if you would like to do that too! They just ask that you are diligent about picking up your trash and cleaning the table when you leave. Please show them your appreciation by doing so!
