The volleyball team will play in its 1st State Championship since 2010 this Saturday at 11:00 am at Lakepoint Sports Complex in Cartersville, GA against Mt. Paran.
The team really needs your support in the stands! Therefore, we are offering a spirit bus for those interested, but we need your confirmation ASAP….by noon Tuesday!
Cost per rider – $10
Cost per ticket – $12 (purchased at GoFan, but there may be some parents who are willing to cover the admission cost of the 1st 20+/- students who sign up…..we’re working on this)
Departure from the front of the Sinkwich Spartan Center at 8:45 am
Return (estimate) 3:15 pm
Please respond to Coach Petroski no later than noon Tuesday if you are interested in riding the spirit bus.

Congratulations, Thomas Meyer!!!
Athens Academy is pleased to announce that junior Thomas Meyer is one of four students from the state of Georgia selected to serve on the inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics State Officer Board. Along with his fellow board members, Thomas will be advising the GaFIRST.org state committee on how to improve robotics/STE(A)M opportunities for school robotics teams in Georgia.
According to their website, Georgia FIRST’s mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”
State officers will meet twice a month via Microsoft Teams to plan events for robotics students for the spring and into the next school year. Way to go, Spartan!

US violinists Daniel Huang ’22, Simms Murray ’23, and Joshua Xie ’25 passed the district level audition for All-State Orchestra and have moved on to the state level audition for GMEA’s 2022 All-State Orchestras.
