From our current Athens Academy Handbook:
While cell phones and other smart devices are important for communication in today’s culture, they provide the potential for disruptions to class, tutorial, assemblies and meetings. Devices with built-in cameras create the potential for violations of the Honor Code and of privacy. For these reasons, the use of cellphones and other smart devices at school is limited to free periods, lunch, before school, and after school. At all other times including class, tutorial, help sessions, and meetings, all cell phones and smart watches and glasses are to be turned off and stored in a teacher-designated area at the beginning of class. After attendance has been taken, a teacher may make an exception only for educational purposes. Devices with built-in cameras may not be used in locker rooms or restrooms.
You will receive a cell phone infraction and serve Community Restoration if you have your cell phone out during any of the following times:
- Class
- Breaks during class
- Going to the restroom during a class or meeting
- Study hall
- Class Meetings
- Seminar
- Advisory
- MMM
- Any other meeting, including special assemblies
- Tutorial time
You may use your cell phone during the following times:
- Before school
- In between classes
- Lunch
- Free period
- After school if you are not in a tutorial
*Absolutely no taking pictures or videos of any student or teacher without their permission.

SPARTAN OF THE WEEK

“Autumn stepped up at quarterback in a new role with limited experience and made an immediate impact. This week, she threw touchdown passes, ran for touchdowns, and recorded an interception while helping lead our team to three wins. Beyond her performance on the field, Autumn has shown great character through her humility, positive attitude, and commitment to getting better. She has been putting in extra work outside of practice, watching film, and staying consistent in the weight room. The way she carries herself, works to improve, and steps up for her team makes her standout on our team.”
– Jarya Outten, Head Coach Varsity Flag Football
