Special Olympics this Wednesday
We are excited to be hosting the Area 5 Special Olympics once again on campus and at Showtime Bowl next Wednesday November 4th. We currently have over 350 athletes registered from 6 different counties that are excited to attend and participate. Hosting at Athens Academy is a long standing tradition and working with you is a bright spot for the competitors and families. Without our help and facility use the games would not happen. You will be helping to organize the event, referee, serve as team escorts, and score individual events. We also proved this opportunity at no cost to the athletes, proceeds from our homecoming shirt sales will be used to pay for the bowling costs for all that are entered.
Basketball
Sinkwich Spartan Center 9:15am-12:30pm
Middle School Gym – 9:30am-12:30pm
Bowling (Showtime Bowl)
Group 1 – 9:15am-11:00am, Group 2 11:00am-12:30pm
All ACAD students should be back in class by 12:45pm.
Seniors – you are our main event volunteers and you will not have classes in the morning.
Juniors and Sophomores – If you are free (Block 8 and Block 5) we would love your help, but you are NOT excused from class or from being tardy. If you are receiving this email it is because you are free for one of the time blocks that morning.
Please fill out this form for your volunteering preference.

National French Week! Nov. 4-10, 2026
Athens Academy French Club and the National French Honor Society invite you to join us in celebrating National French Week once again!
Watch for posters displayed around campus with interesting trivia about French-speaking countries and come to Lampkin Patio this Friday, Nov. 6 to enjoy our annual French cheese tasting during both lunches!
Bon appétit!

From our current Athens Academy Handbook:
While cell phones and other smart devices are important for communication in today’s culture, they provide the potential for disruptions to class, tutorial, assemblies and meetings. Devices with built-in cameras create the potential for violations of the Honor Code and of privacy. For these reasons, the use of cellphones and other smart devices at school is limited to free periods, lunch, before school, and after school. At all other times including class, tutorial, help sessions, and meetings, all cell phones and smart watches and glasses are to be turned off and stored in a teacher-designated area at the beginning of class. After attendance has been taken, a teacher may make an exception only for educational purposes. Devices with built-in cameras may not be used in locker rooms or restrooms.
You will receive a cell phone infraction and serve Community Restoration if you have your cell phone out during any of the following times:
- Class
- Breaks during class
- Going to the restroom during a class or meeting
- Study hall
- Class Meetings
- Seminar
- Advisory
- MMM
- Any other meeting, including special assemblies
- Tutorial time
You may use your cell phone during the following times:
- Before school
- In between classes
- Lunch
- Free period
- After school if you are not in a tutorial
*Absolutely no taking pictures or videos of any student or teacher without their permission.
