Athens Academy French Club invites you to join us in celebrating National French
Week! Each day we will offer a useful French phrase for you to learn – give them
a try! (Sound spellings will help you pronounce them!  ) Watch for French trivia
posted around campus this week, and for some culinary enjoyment, on Friday, we
will offer French cheese tasting during lunches (stop by our table in front of
Lampkin!) Hope to see you there!
Today’s French phrase is : Bon appétit ! / Bunahpaytee /
( “Enjoy your meal !” ) It is always said as a courtesy just before
beginning a meal or when passing by anyone else who is having one.

Today’s French phrase is : La vache ! / Lah vahsh/

(Literally, “the cow”!) But this common colloquial expression is used
much like the word “Wow!” and can express surprise, admiration or disappointment.

Every year, 14 senior Yale students are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the “Whiffs” began as a senior quartet that met weekly at Mory’s Temple Bar. Today, the group has become one of Yale’s most celebrated traditions. Singing a mixture of old Yale tunes, jazz standards, and other hits from across the decades, the Whiffenpoofs perform more than 200 concerts across six continents each year.

If you are free TODAY from 1:45-2:30, please join the MS for this performance in the PH.  Middle school students need to be seated first in their grade sections, then, US students/faculty and staff can fill in wherever there are spaces!  There should be approximately 60 extra seats. Please stop by and enjoy  America’s Oldest Collegiate A Cappella Group – the “Whiffs”!
