Submit to the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards! Due Dec. 31

Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally. National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Everyone who is interested should submit their creative work! Congratulations again to Charlotte Luke who received the Silver Key award in last year’s competition.

The company of “Arlecchino & The City of Love” competed in the GHSA One Act Play Competition and finished 2nd.  They proved to be excellent ambassadors for Athens Academy.

This year’s one act play, Arlecchino & The City of Love, qualified to advance to the state level of the GHSA One Act Play competition Nov. 3 in Warner Robins, GA.  Lizzy Walker & Jessica Ford were singled out for their performance by being awarded “All Star Cast” recognition.  Senior, Daniel Rouhani, was awarded as “Best Actor”!  GOOOOOOOO Spartans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seniors applying for regular decision should submit their blue sheets to Dr. Reid and Dr. Rogers as soon as they can. All sheets must be submitted before Nov 9. Don’t forget to also complete a transcript request (available here). Even though both forms are necessary, it is the  blue sheets that drive the process — and should therefore be submitted ASAP.
