NHS Science Night Volunteers
Lower School Family Science Night is THIS THURSDAY February 23th!! NHS members should arrive at the LS Barrett Hall at 5:15pm. Check in with Ms. Neves at the door to find out which station you are working, and then you will get your pizza dinner. After 15-20 minutes of pizza and fellowship, there will be a short orientation to prepare you for the night and get you familiar with your station.
Remember, this is MANDATORY for all NHS members (unless Ms. Neves is already aware of your approved conflict). Even those who did not complete the station preference form are expected to attend, and you will be placed at stations according to need rather than your preference.
This is such a fun event, and the Lower School families really enjoy interacting with the Upper School students. Ms. Neves is excited to see everyone this Thursday!
Juniors and Seniors:
Spartan Speaker Series with Athens Academy Alum and Parent Patrick Garrard
Wednesday, February 22
1:25 – 1:55 p.m.
Chambers Center
We are excited to provide another opportunity for you to learn from our Spartan community. Join us for our next Spartan Speaker Series with Athens Academy alum and parent Patrick Garrard. Mr. Garrard will discuss his journey from Athens Academy to Spanish major in college to becoming a lawyer. He owns his own law practice and helps business owners with their daily legal needs. Mr. Garrard also finds time to volunteer in our community and enjoys giving back. Grab some free lunch in the Chambers Center and spend a few minutes learning about another great Spartan.
If you plan on joining us, please click here to RSVP.
There are many lost and found items from the library located on two tables in the lobby – check it out on your way out!
PLEASE HELP US!
We are still having some pretty serious septic tank issues that can be avoided by our help!
Please, please, please do not flush feminine products or paper towels down the toilet.
We really appreciate your help with this!
“Mckenna is such a blessing to this soccer program and this school. She represents everything we would want in a Spartan. We are only a few weeks into the soccer season and she has brought tremendous leadership, intensity, and grit in modeling the right things for our program. She is not only excelling on the field but also in the classroom as she prepares for graduation in a few months. There are some big games ahead for our program and she will 100% be ready for the challenge.” – Judson Hamby, Head Coach Varsity Girls Soccer
“Rodrigo has really stepped up in modeling positive leadership at practice and games for his teammates. He is genuinely concerned about the success of his team and his fellow players.” – Stefan Billmayer, Head Coach Varsity Boys Soccer

In 1981, the Rolling Stones sang “A smile relieves a heart that grieves.” Now, research is showing this to be true. Even a “fake smile” tricks the brain and causes the release of happiness hormones. Watch this interesting video to learn even more about this. AND if you want to learn other ways to increase your happiness, read this brief article to learn how to trigger the release of your happiness hormones- Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin, and Endorphins.
