Mask Optional

1. Respect decisions: From Mr. Thorsen’s letter to our community:

“Many students and adults will choose to continue to wear a mask indoors and we want to respect and support these decisions. Some are excited for holiday guests, travel or mindful of a loved one at home with health concerns. The reasons will vary and we want to provide a safe and positive environment for all.”

2. Please carry a mask with you (or in your bag):

We will still need to wear a mask in large gatherings. Make sure you bring one to the PH on Tuesday and Wednesday.

3. You may have had a sneaky beard under your mask, please make sure you are clean shaven. Seniors may have beards if they are well-kept.

Attention readers!  Due to overwhelmingly good participation in the last two book club meetings, The Spartan Book Club will split for our next meeting.  9th and 10th graders have voted and will read The House on the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune.  11th and 12th graders will read The Push by Ashley Audrain.  Our next meeting will be the week of December 6-9th.  Please see Mrs. Street with any questions and happy reading!

Beyond Limits is a UGA Miracle TODAY that is all about going above and beyond in support of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. To show our support, we are having a bake sale on Thursday during lunch! We will take cash and venmo!

“Wendy has brought such a positive, bright spirit to our JV Cheerleading team this season. She comes into every practice and game with a big smile on her face, ready to cheer on the Spartans, and to help her team in any way she can. Wendy is always ending our practices with uplifting compliments to encourage her teammates and she is always the first to volunteer for anything she can. Some may have seen Wendy selling her heart out at our Spirit Table on Friday nights, and she has been a driving force in our spirit item sales. She has volunteered and taken extra shifts to work the Spirit Table just because she loves being involved and spreading spirit at Athens Academy. We are so lucky to have Wendy in our program and we look forward to watching her grow as an Athens Academy Cheerleader during the basketball cheer season! Great job, Wendy!! Kelsie Webb, Head Coach, Cheerleading

YLA Applications

Youth Leadership Athens is a premier leadership and civic engagement program for high school sophomores and juniors (and this year seniors) that brings together teens from all of our Athens-area schools to learn, work, and explore together.

Applications are being accepted now through November 30th. The application process is simple and fully online to make these easy for our students, parents, and references.

We are looking for those teens who are leaders, emerging leaders, and prospective leaders. We have many outstanding Athens Academy grads among our alumni and hope to continue that tradition with your current students.

There is no limit to how many students from a school may participate and our goal is to create a class with students in different stages of their leadership journey.

Here’s what’s happening at 9:45 this week!
