An Important Message From Mr. Thorsen and Mrs. Zalac

As you likely read in today’s eSpartan we have seen an increase in positive COVID-19 cases.  This evening, we are quarantining 17 more students through contact tracing efforts.  If you are quarantined then you will receive a separate email stating this and the date of the return to school.  Please be vigilant in your efforts to stay healthy and safe.  This also includes making good decisions throughout quarantine.  If you are not quarantined, but concerned then please know we support whichever decisions you need to make related to at home learning.  Our first priority is health and well being.  If you are not feeling well, please stay home and reach out to the US office.

Thank you and take good care,

Mr. Thorsen and Mrs. Zalac

Spring Semester Schedule

Don’t forget you must sign in and out even if you have parent permission to leave! You will serve detention if you forget. We need to know if you are on campus. Thank you!!!

If you need the links to the at-home or return request forms, please email Ms. Rorey: trorey@athensacademy.org. Remember that you should expect to wait 24 hours before you are approved by the school. Therefore, do not submit the request late in the evening or early in the morning and assume that you will immediately have permission to attend online or return to school. Thank you!

Book Drive for Boys and Girls Club and Downtown Academy!!
Please bring in your gently used books for readers ages 3-16yrs to the Myers Gallery during the month of January!

Thank you so much for being diligent about wearing your masks! A few of you are still having trouble and for clarification, here is the process for you:

1. A faculty member will give you a warning.
2. After the warning, that faculty member will infract you and you will serve detention. This will be communicated to your parents as well.
3. After you serve detention, if another infraction occurs, you, your advisor, and your parents will meet with Mrs. Zalac and there will be escalated consequences.

Hugh has come into basketball season with a great attitude and a willingness to work hard. He has set a strong example for the underclassmen to follow in order to achieve their goals. Hugh has made an immediate impact on our program this year in a short amount of time.  Mike Salvia, Head Coach, Varsity Boys Basketball

Congratulations to junior Steven Holder for being named SPARTAN OF THE WEEK (week of December 14 – this was the last week we were in school):
“Steven has emerged as a leader. Specifically, a leader that leads by example inside the room and out of it. His hard work and willingness to learn have helped shape and build our program. His junior year is off to a great start. He has approached this season with a ‘one match at a time’ mentality and we are looking forward to seeing how he finishes”Luke Graves, Head Coach, Varsity Wrestling
