1. Today is a regular school day and we expect that you will be here unless you have gotten permission from Mrs. Zalac.
2. Remember that we are providing pizza lunch for you! Yay! You don’t need to bring money, but please do bring a water bottle or your own drink.
3. It’s a dress down day! Yay! However, please keep in mind that we will have special community speakers joining us in the afternoon.
 
Here’s our schedule:

9:00-10:00 You have a late start! Please be in your Class Meeting Location by 9:00.

  • Pizza will be served in the Amphitheater. Stop by anytime during this hour! Enjoy being outside and being together!

  • Freshmen and Sophomores, go to PH. Sophomores are dismissed after programming. Freshmen will go to Advisory and be dismissed at 3:00.

The deadline for student-initiated schedule changes is Friday, September 10. If students believe that they need to make a change, they should talk with their advisors and the course teacher to determine the best course of action.

She is always prepared, ready to cheer, and does everything with a big smile on her face! Chamberlain always jumps right in and shows how much she loves and cares for the Athens Academy Spartans! She is constantly showing spirit and cheering on the Spartans without hesitation. Chamberlain is kind, thoughtful, and always looking to improve herself at practices and games. We are so blessed to have Chamberlain as one of our Spartan Cheerleaders and are so proud of the improvements she has made so far! SAT at ACAD for Seniors: 
Athens Academy has made arrangements to offer the SAT (without essay) to Athens Academy seniors on Wednesday, October 13. This is the same day when sophomores and juniors take the PSAT, so you will not have to miss school to take this test.  Students have reported in recent years that the convenience and familiarity of testing at school have benefited them.  We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to improve your scores as college application deadlines approach.

Late Start

Each Wednesday, you (all grades!) get to sleep in a little! Your first class starts at 8:45 instead of 8:10. You must be in your class and ready to go at 8:45. If you are late, you need to sign in with the QR Code.

You are more than welcome to be here earlier! If you do arrive before 8:45, just sign in with a QR Code in a common space, Deans’ office or at the front desk. You may hang out in any common space or the library.


Tillman Center Announcement:

Upper School Students are not allowed in the Tillman Center when Middle School Students are using it. Middle School finishes lunch at 11:55. Most of the time there are many Upper School Students either going in or lined up right at the door, waiting to get in before 11:55. PLEASE do not be on the ramp going down to the Tillman Center. Wait in Lampkin Plaza, go wash your hands and grab your lunch. Let’s give the Middle School Students room to leave! Thank you for your help with this!

Please wear your mask when you go into the Tillman Center and while you wait in line. You may take it off when you get to your seat to eat.


Tillman Center Snacks are now available everyday from 9:30-11:30.

The Tillman Center Staff has been so kind to extend the time for you to go in and get a snack. You may go in and sit at a table if you would like to do that too! They just ask that you are diligent about picking up your trash and cleaning the table when you leave. Please show them your appreciation by doing so!

Upper School Students are not allowed in the Tillman Center when Middle School Students are using it. Middle School finishes lunch at 11:55. Most of the time there are many Upper School Students either going in or lined up right at the door, waiting to get in before 11:55. PLEASE do not be on the ramp going down to the Tillman Center. Wait in Lampkin Plaza, go wash your hands and grab your lunch. Let’s give the Middle School Students room to leave! Thank you for your help with this!

Congratulations to juniors Jackson Scruggs & Sarah Harrison for being named Spartans of the Week (Week of August 30)“Although they are both Juniors, Jackson Scruggs and Sarah Harrison are the front runners on our 2021 Cross Country teams.  Both Jackson and Sarah lead by example.  They have logged their miles over the summer and bring effort and enthusiasm to every practice.  Their hard work this summer has paid off as each has brought home an individual title early this season.  Congratulations to Sarah who won the East Jackson State Races in dominating fashion.  Jackson won the North Georgia Championship Varsity Race by 9 seconds.  It’s early and both of these runners are poised for strong seasons!” – Geoffrey Walton, Head Coach, Varsity Cross Country

The cross country teams performed well this past Saturday at the North Georgia Championships and host a meet this Saturday starting at 9:00 am.
 
The football team traveled to Charlotte Country Day this past Friday and won 33-9. The team travels to longtime rival Commerce, Friday with kickoff at 7:30 pm…..yes, Commerce has changed their kickoff time from their traditional 8:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
 
The volleyball team remains undefeated on the season at 19-0 after winning all 5 matches Saturday during the annual Varsity PlayDate in the Sinkwich Spartan Center and travels to Morgan Co Tuesday to play Morgan Co and Sandy Creek.

SAT at ACAD for Seniors: 
Athens Academy has made arrangements to offer the SAT (without essay) to Athens Academy seniors on Wednesday, October 13. This is the same day when sophomores and juniors take the PSAT, so you will not have to miss school to take this test.  Students have reported in recent years that the convenience and familiarity of testing at school have benefited them.  We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to improve your scores as college application deadlines approach.
