Athens Academy

As a member of the Georgia Children’s Book Award committee, Athens Academy librarian Sarah Powers had the honor of presenting this year’s picture book winner last week at their annual conference. She put together this super cute video with help from her friends in the Pre- and Lower Schools to make the announcement! Great job, Spartans! And congratulations to the winner!

The sixth graders went out west today! They explored the many beautiful acres of our campus and learned about orienteering, discovered different types of plant life, used math to figure out how to cross the “continental divide” and much more! The weather was perfect and the kids loved spending the day outdoors—another one of our many awesome #acadtraditions 🌳

Third grader Shepherd Rogers did a fantastic job as the Lower School Director for a Day! He started the morning with carpool line, worked on some budgets, had a few meetings, and then sat down with Mr. Thorsen to go over some of his proposals, including more desserts at lunch and a water slide on the playground. 🍰

The Athens Academy Tri-M Music Honor Society inducted nineteen new members into its ranks on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Congratulations to juniors Jackson Memler-Jones, Roman Ritchey, and Charlie Vaughn; sophomores Will Dugas and Nina Kline; and freshmen Miller Cooper, Henry Thomas Garrard, Riley Harding, Alex Hollenbeck, Brooks Johnson, Kai Kelley, Finn McElroy, Tucker Rhodes, Weston Smart, D.J. Street, Kate Sullivan, Charlie Walton, Reese Walton, and Asa Winter-Shirey.
