Friday – Clubs

Shout-out to the Spartan Review team! Check out an awesome profile of junior Jake Garcia, a review of Squid Game, spooky Halloween recommendations, and more!

The Athens Academy players, coaches and school community are excited about Saturday’s Class A Private Volleyball Semifinal match vs Holy Innocents’!  The match will be played at Perry High School, Perry GA at 2:00 pm.

Tickets should be purchased using GoFan and here’s a link for your convenience.

The match will be streamed by GHSA on the NFHS Network.

A few volleyball FYI’s…..
The team is currently 41-2 on the season, with the only losses against 2 of the AAA Semifinal teams, Sandy Creek and Oconee Co.  The team did not lose a set in the Region Tournament and, to date, has not lost a set in the state tournament and has only lost 9 sets the entire season!!

Go Spartans!

Congratulations, Thomas Meyer!!!

Athens Academy is pleased to announce that junior Thomas Meyer is one of four students from the state of Georgia selected to serve on the inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics State Officer Board.  Along with his fellow board members, Thomas will be advising the GaFIRST.org state committee on how to improve robotics/STE(A)M opportunities for school robotics teams in Georgia.

According to their website, Georgia FIRST’s mission is to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

State officers will meet twice a month via Microsoft Teams to plan events for robotics students for the spring and into the next school year.  Way to go, Spartan!

 Congratulations, Musicians!!!

US violinists Daniel Huang ’22, Simms Murray ’23, and Joshua Xie ’25 passed the district level audition for All-State Orchestra and have moved on to the state level audition for GMEA’s 2022 All-State Orchestras.

“Camille is the definition of versatile. Not only is she a tremendous manager for the football team, but she also captures amazing photos of our athletes in the field of play. She has been producing hype videos for the past few years & had a hand in making our student led webcast into one of the best in the country. I will truly miss Camille upon graduation and everything that she brings to the table but I am certain that her future will be extremely bright. I cannot wait to see what all she accomplishes! Go Spartans!” Mike Callinan, Webcast & Advanced Media Production
