The Junior Board blends an opportunity for community service with the responsibility of determining the allocation of some $30,000 each year to fund historic preservation projects. This program is open to high school juniors and seniors from Georgia and South Carolina to educate students about some of the many career opportunities within the field of veterinary medicine. They will hear from veterinarians from UGA’s vet school, a guest speaker, and receive a tour of our teaching hospital. The application for VSFD 2019 will be available on our website (https://vet.uga.edu/academic-affairs/vet-school-for-a-day) from Monday, August 5 until Monday, September 2. All application materials must be received by the September 2 deadline. There is no cost to apply to or attend the program. Youth Leadership Oconee Applications Due Thursday, August 22nd. You can fill out the application using the link below.

Objective:  To provide opportunities for young adults to develop leadership skills and the community awareness necessary to address challenges facing Oconee County.

ATHENS PEER COURT OPPORTUNITY

Any 9th-12th grade students that are Clarke County residents are invited to join Athens Peer Court. The training begins August 22nd at 5:30. The three day, 13-hour training will continue on Saturday, August 24th, (9am-3pm) and conclude on Tuesday, August 27th. If you are interested in  more details please email Emily Boness (boness@fanning.uga.edu) or text at 706-229-6266.

Athens Peer Court began in February of 2012, there are currently more than 30 volunteers serving as the advocates in hearings for first time offenders in the Clarke County Juvenile Court. Student volunteers develop their leadership skills and participate in community service. There are no grade point requirements or other prerequisites to join. The program is free, but does require students to have their own transportation both to UGA for the training and to the courthouse in downtown Athens for hearings. The commitment following completion of the training is one to two Tuesday evenings per month.

Any 9th-12th grade students that are Clarke County residents are invited to join Athens Peer Court. The training begins August 22nd at 5:30. The three day, 13-hour training will continue on Saturday, August 24th, (9am-3pm) and conclude on Tuesday, August 27th. If you are interested in  more details please email Emily Boness (boness@fanning.uga.edu) or text at 706-229-6266.

Athens Peer Court began in February of 2012, there are currently more than 30 volunteers serving as the advocates in hearings for first time offenders in the Clarke County Juvenile Court. Student volunteers develop their leadership skills and participate in community service. There are no grade point requirements or other prerequisites to join. The program is free, but does require students to have their own transportation both to UGA for the training and to the courthouse in downtown Athens for hearings. The commitment following completion of the training is one to two Tuesday evenings per month.

Yearbook photo’s for grades 9-11 will take place today in Bertelsmann.  This will be occurring a little bit in pd. 4 and a little bit in pd. 3. Ninth grade from 9:00-9:20, tenth grade from 9:20-9:40 and eleventh grade from 9:40-10:00. Your teacher will dismiss you.


Today at 10:40, we will have Class Meetings. Freshmen: PH, Sophomores: Lampkin, Juniors: Tillman Center and Seniors: Myers Gallery. We will be there until 11:15. After Class Meetings, we will go to advisory until 11:40.


Audition workshop for the one act play will be held in Mr. Dale’s room Wednesday afternoon from 4:15-6:15.  We will discuss the play, the characters, the rehearsal schedule, and the set.  We will also read from the script.  This workshop is a tremendous help if you plan to audition.


One Act Auditions for “Peter and the Star Catcher” will be held in the PH on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 4:15-6:30.  Contact Ms. T is you want the script sent to you or if you have questions.
