“Defining myself, as opposed to being defined by others, is one of the most difficult challenges I face.”

“One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.”
—Franklin Thomas, activist, philanthropist, and former president of the Ford Foundation

Check out this video about Ruby Bridges. Here is one of her quotes:

“Each and every one of us is born with a clean heart. Our babies know nothing about hate or racism. But soon they begin to learn – and only from us. We keep racism alive. We pass it on to our children. We owe it to our children to help them keep their clean start.”

An Important Message From Mr. Thorsen and Mrs. Zalac

As you likely read in today’s eSpartan we have seen an increase in positive COVID-19 cases.  This evening, we are quarantining 17 more students through contact tracing efforts.  If you are quarantined then you will receive a separate email stating this and the date of the return to school.  Please be vigilant in your efforts to stay healthy and safe.  This also includes making good decisions throughout quarantine.  If you are not quarantined, but concerned then please know we support whichever decisions you need to make related to at home learning.  Our first priority is health and well being.  If you are not feeling well, please stay home and reach out to the US office.

Thank you and take good care,

Mr. Thorsen and Mrs. Zalac
