The summer dates are May 28 to July 3. There is no cost to participate. Today is a Day 5


Congratulations to Charlotte Luke and Nick Wieczorek for being selected to serve alongside Davis Slate in the Athens Peer Court program. This is the sixteenth group of students to join Athens Peer Court, which was founded in March 2012. The
program has over 40 volunteers that serve as the advocates, judges, jurors and bailiff in disposition hearings for youth who have been charged with first time offenses. The program is a collaboration between ACC Juvenile Court, UGA’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, the Department of Juvenile Justice and UGA’s School of Law student organization Street Law. Our next training will take place in
January of 2019. Please contact Coach Olson at bolson@athensacademy.org if interested.

The Drama Club Annual Back to School Party was held Saturday, August 18 at the home of Eleanor Connolly.  Music, food, games, and pool time fun-filled the evening.  Thirty-five Spartans 9th-12th grade attended!

Today is our pep rally! Please WALK (do not drive) to the Spartan Center at 2:25 – start heading over right then. Cheerleaders and 12th Man may be dismissed at 1:50 to prepare for the pep rally and do have permission to drive to the Spartan Center. We all should be seated by 2:35 in the middle. Everyone needs to go to the pep rally – it is mandatory and fun! Get spirited!

ARLECCHINOThe One Act Play this year is a comedy, Arlecchino & the City of Love. 

*  A copy  of the script is available by a link found on Spartan Net on the One Act Play page.

*  Audition Workshop will be on Wednesday afternoon 4:15 to 6:15 in the Presentation Hall.The workshop will consist of learning about the play, reading the play aloud, and learning about the characters.  It is VERY helpful if you are planning to audition!

*  Auditions for One Act are Thursday and Friday of this week from 4:15-6:15 in the Presentation Hall.  All are welcome!!!!

If you are interested in joining the Drama Club, we will be having our annual back to school party on Saturday, August 18Grab your swimsuit and join us!  For more information contact club president- Eleanor Connolly or Ms. T.

 


Athens Area Homeless Shelter, 620 Barber Street Athens GA 30601

Please join us for our first Shelter Dinner this Friday 8/17 taking place at the Athens Area Homeless Shelter. We will begin making tacos at 4:30pm and will be finished by 5:30pm. If you are planning on attending please confirm to bolson@athensacademy.org

 


 

2018-19 Youth Leadership Oconee Applications are available using the link below. Current 10th and 11th grade students who want to further develop their leadership skills and channel those skills towards helping others and improving their community should apply! Before applying make sure to review program dates and attendance requirements. Deadline for submission is Friday, August 17.
